Training Groups

What’s a Training Group? In addition to small groups, we offer training groups to help equip you on your walk with Christ! These are usually book studies where a group of students read a chapter each week and gather to discuss and apply the concepts together. These groups are great for those hoping to go deeper in their faith, who want to mature as a leader, or to explore a particular area of the Christian faith.

This year, we are offering three different training groups during the Fall Semester!

Crazy Busy with Tyler Brown

Overview: “I’m too busy!” We’ve all heard it. The university context seems to train us to overcommit ourselves and burn ourselves out with jam-packed schedules. But busyness can also be spiritually dangerous. In this training group, we will seek to use biblical tools to get to the root of our hyper-busyness and to embrace a life marked by rest, trust, and productivity.

Basic Christianity with Erin Hogan

Overview: While Jesus and his teaching continue to hold appeal, many people question the plausibility or relevance of the Christian faith. Is it reasonable to believe that Jesus was truly divine? If so, what does it mean for us? John Stott’s accessible, classic book examines the historical facts on which Christianity stands. With pastoral guidance, Stott presents a biblical portrait of Christ, then considers what it looks like to become and live as a Christian. For more than sixty years, Basic Christianity has been a landmark resource that has helped millions understand the gospel.

Leader: This training group will be led by Erin Hogan.

Where: The InterVarsity House: 222 S. College Ave.

When: Mondays from 4:30-6:00 beginning October 9th. This group will meet for the second half of the Fall Semester.
